Amankora
Bhutan

Amankora is a series of five lodges in Bhutan, operated by Aman and set across the central and western valleys at Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang. The property is not a single hotel but a multi-lodge experience designed for travelling between regions, with each lodge reflecting its setting and offering access to nearby cultural and natural sites. The collection is presented as a Bhutan journey rather than a conventional resort stay. Among the lodges, Amankora Bumthang stands adjacent to Wandichholing Palace in the town of Jakar, while the wider brand describes the valley as Bhutan’s spiritual heartland. The lodge has 16 suites, each of about 52 square metres, and the accommodation includes king-size beds, wood-burning stoves, banquette window seating, terrazzo-clad bathtubs, twin vanities, separate toilets and showers. This gives the lodge a quieter, more residential character than a large full-service hotel. Guest spaces include an interior dining room with fireplace, a terrace courtyard with firepit, and a private dining room for groups. Aman also describes lodge-wide facilities such as elegant dining and lounge areas, an intimate spa and generous outdoor areas for relaxing. In Paro, Thimphu and other valleys, the lodges are similarly positioned to combine landscape views with practical access to temples, monasteries, museums and town centres. The overall experience is rooted in Bhutanese place and ritual rather than formal resort programming. Aman frames Amankora around bespoke journeys that connect the lodges, with planned itineraries and local experiences such as temple visits and pilgrimage sites. The result is a restrained, design-led stay with lodge-specific food and living spaces, set in forests, valleys and historic towns rather than a single urban centre.
