Angama Mara
Kenya

Angama Mara stands on Kenya's Oloololo Escarpment, roughly 1,000 feet above the plains of the Maasai Mara. Its position along the edge of the Great Rift Valley creates an unusually broad outlook, with the landscape visible from the lodge's rooms and shared spaces. Two separate camps each contain 15 tented suites. Large glass fronts, spacious interiors and private decks keep attention on the view, while the contemporary design gives the accommodation a lighter, more open character than a traditional safari lodge. Guided drives explore the Mara Triangle below, and walking safaris offer another perspective from the escarpment. Back at the lodge, a photographic studio provides equipment and guidance, a beading studio connects guests with Maasai makers, and the swimming pool looks out towards the reserve. Meals can become part of the day's exploration, from a bush picnic to private dining on a suite's deck. Angama is particularly compelling for travellers who want wildlife encounters alongside time to sit still and take in the immense scale of the Mara.
