Apoka Safari Lodge

Apoka Safari Lodge is in Kidepo Valley National Park, Uganda, in the south-western sector above the Narus Valley. It is the WildPlaces Africa property for this remote park and is described by the operator as the only full-service lodge inside the national park, with a setting built around a rocky outcrop and open plains rather than a fenced compound. The location places guests directly within a wilderness area known for lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras and large buffalo herds. Accommodation at Apoka comprises ten separate canvas-walled chalets with thatched roofs, arranged as four twins and six doubles. Operator material says each cottage is self-contained and includes an indoor shower, an outdoor bathtub and a private veranda, with views across the Narus River valley and surrounding savannah. The lodge also notes a total capacity of 20 guests, which supports its small-scale, intimate character. Shared facilities include a rock-carved swimming pool, a main lodge raised on stilts and a private dining tower. Meals are provided on site, with breakfast, lunch and a three-course dinner included in the lodge’s fact sheet, alongside teas and coffees; bar service is also included apart from premium drinks. The property additionally mentions laundry, bottled water and mobile network access, while the operator lists an organic garden among its broader features. Experiences at Apoka centre on the park itself. WildPlaces Africa lists game drives with resident guides in open vehicles, walking safaris with armed guides, birdwatching and nature walks, together with bush breakfasts, sundowner drinks, picnics and pre-booked community tours. The lodge’s emphasis is on direct contact with the landscape and wildlife, combining simple comfort with a very remote safari setting and broad valley views from rooms and public areas.
