Canlis

Canlis has been a family-owned Seattle restaurant since 1950. Its building, originally designed by Roland Terry and later developed by Jim Cutler and George Suyama, frames views of Lake Union, the city and the Cascade Mountains. Natural light and the modern architecture are as much a part of its character as the dining room service. The current six-course experience asks diners to choose three courses, with the kitchen arranging the remainder. Dishes such as halibut with dashi and chowder with Manila clams, geoduck and kasu show the interplay of Northwest ingredients and wider influences. The original Canlis Salad can be added and prepared tableside. A separate lounge offers cocktails and live piano music, with walk-ins welcome.
