Canton Tower
Haizhu District, Guangzhou, China, 222 Yuejiang West Road
Canton Tower is Guangzhou’s defining contemporary landmark and one of the clearest ways to understand the city’s scale from above. The Guangzhou municipal A-level attractions list identifies it as a 4A attraction in Haizhu District at 222 Yuejiang West Road, placing it firmly on the south bank of the Pearl River within the city proper. The tower’s official website confirms it is operating and lists visitor opening hours of 09:30 to 22:30. Rather than functioning as a simple lookout, it is organised as a multi-part sightseeing venue with observation areas and paid visitor facilities including the 488-metre outdoor observation platform, the 450-metre outdoor platform, the Ferris wheel and other indoor attractions. This is the strongest first-ranked entry because it gives a practical overview of Guangzhou’s river corridor, central skyline and the contrast between older urban districts and the newer business core. It also works in daylight or after dark, when the riverfront setting becomes part of the appeal. Access is straightforward but not fully open: major sightseeing elements are ticketed, and visitors should expect separate admission products for different tower experiences. The evidence supports it as an operating, purpose-built attraction rather than merely a city icon viewed from outside.
