Capella Ubud, Bali

Capella Ubud is a tented retreat in the forests of Keliki, designed by Bill Bensley with inspiration from nineteenth-century European expeditions. Its rooms place canvas architecture alongside substantial interiors, rather than reproducing a conventional campsite. One-bedroom tents include private pools, decks with daybeds, copper baths and indoor and outdoor showers. Forest Tents can be reached by buggy, while the Valley Tents occupy terraced ground with steps. A two-bedroom lodge adds a heated pool connected to an open-plan living room and views across the Keliki valley. Private dining, picnics and cooking classes form part of the resort’s culinary experiences, giving guests ways to explore the setting beyond their accommodation.
