Cara is the tasting-menu restaurant at The Chanler, overlooking Newport’s Cliff Walk and Easton’s Bay. Chef Jacob Jasinski and his team create a blind tasting that changes nightly, drawing on deliveries from local fishermen, farmers and ranchers. Each course is introduced as it leaves the kitchen, allowing the meal to unfold without a conventional printed menu. The cooking follows the season and the coast, using a European approach to technique. The intimate format gives diners a close connection to the kitchen and its ingredients, with both meat and seafood included in the progression. Advance reservations are required, and the restaurant asks guests with substantial dietary restrictions to discuss suitable alternatives.
