Carnoustie, Championship

Carnoustie's Championship Course is selected for the sustained demands of its links golf. Bunkers, burns and changing lines make careful positioning essential, with a closing stretch that rewards composure as much as power. The reputation for difficulty should encourage sensible tee choice rather than obscure the course's strategic interest. Carnoustie Golf Links operates several courses, so the Championship name is a necessary part of the reservation. A round on the Burnside or Buddon Links is a different experience. The wider complex can support a varied visit, but this entry concerns the championship routing alone. Use the official Championship Course booking route. Confirm handicap eligibility, caddies or trolleys, visitor availability and all weather or cancellation terms for the selected date. Before travelling, ask for the current course conditions and the full cost of the intended round, including any required services. Keep the written confirmation with the itinerary, and allow enough time for check-in and preparation rather than arriving at the scheduled tee time. On 7 November 2026 the official course report listed winter mats, rested greens and the eighth hole closed for winter works on the Championship Course. Check the daily course report before booking; the normal full-course experience should not be assumed during winter work.
