Casa Gangotena occupies a restored mansion beside San Francisco Plaza in Quito’s Old Town. Once the home of the Gangotena family, the building now contains rooms and suites with tall window frames, flowing curtains, rich carpets and Art Deco furniture. Plaza-view accommodation makes particular use of the historic setting. The restaurant’s cocina mestiza draws on Ecuador’s biodiversity and traditional techniques, with local farmers supplying ingredients. The hotel’s location also places San Francisco Church, the Casa del Alabado museum and the Church of La Compañía within a short walk, connecting the stay with several distinct parts of Quito’s historic centre.
