Chef & the Farmer
North Carolina

Chef & the Farmer is Vivian Howard’s Kinston restaurant, opened in 2006 and shaped by her interest in eastern North Carolina food and storytelling. Its current chapter offers two distinct ways to dine, following a period of closure and rethinking. The main dining room’s Chef New format uses a weekly changing prix-fixe menu with choices for each meal, inspired by Charleston’s Chez Nous. The Kitchen Bar is a smaller, advance-ticket experience around Howard’s kitchen, where she cooks a seven-course tasting menu built around changing stories and themes. Wine pairings and other drinks are available separately for both formats.
