Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
Chenghua, China
Giant pandas are the main reason to make the journey to this research and breeding centre north of central Chengdu. The extensive grounds also introduce visitors to red pandas and the work involved in protecting these animals. Allow time to walk between enclosures rather than treating it as a quick photo stop. Book through an official channel, bring the identification used for the reservation, and check the seasonal entry arrangements before setting out.
