Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, South Korea

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall is one of Seogwipo’s principal natural attractions and an easy, well-managed visit on Jeju’s south coast. Official Jeju tourism information identifies it as a representative Seogwipo waterfall at 2-15 Namseongjung-ro, reached by a maintained walking route rather than a strenuous hike. The site is noted for the stream valley setting, where the falls descend into a deep pool; the name is explained locally as a place where ‘heaven and earth meet’. That combination of accessible town-edge location and enclosed subtropical scenery makes it a strong contrast to Jeju’s oreum climbs and lava-tube sites. The attraction is also supported by unusually strong natural-heritage context. Visit Jeju highlights the surrounding Elaeocarpus habitat, giant mottled eel habitat and subtropical forest as protected natural monuments, which gives the stop greater significance than a quick photo viewpoint. Access is straightforward for most visitors, with an official opening time of 09:00–22:00 and last admission at 21:20, making it one of the more practical evening visits in Seogwipo as well. For this ranking, it earns its place by showing a greener, water-shaped side of Jeju that complements the island’s better-known volcanic landscapes without requiring specialist planning.
