Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge sits on Nteko Ridge in Uganda’s Gorilla Highlands, with views towards the Virunga Volcanoes and Great Rift Valley. Eight private stone cottages include six one-bedroom units and two family cottages, each with a wood-burning fireplace for the cooler evenings at 2,000 metres. The Nkuringo gorilla-tracking trailheads are within walking distance. Forest walks, birding and community visits provide further activities, while a massage hut overlooks the forest. The main lodge has generous sitting rooms and several fireplaces, with dining based on fresh ingredients from its organic garden. Local artists’ work appears in the rooms, and dedicated butlers attend to guests during the stay.
