COB

COB takes its name from Cooking Outside the Box, an apt introduction to Filip Matjaž’s approach in Portorož. The restaurant reinterprets Slovenian food through an imaginative tasting experience, encouraging guests to engage with both the dishes and the destination behind them. Its position in the upper part of town provides views across the Bay of Piran. A modern dining room is softened by a century-old wood-burning stove, combining a contemporary setting with a tangible link to older domestic traditions. Local ingredients are central to the kitchen’s work, while the service aims to make the meal interactive. This is a place to arrive with curiosity and allow the presentation to be part of the pleasure. COB suits diners who want more than a conventional restaurant stop during a coastal visit. The connection between regional food, a personal culinary style and the outlook over the bay gives the experience a clear sense of place.
