Courchevel
French Alps

Courchevel is a ski resort in the French Alps, in Savoie, presented by its official tourism site as a destination made up of six connected villages. The resort sits on the heights of the Tarentaise valley and is linked by roads, ski lifts and, in season, free shuttle buses, allowing guests to move between villages without needing private transfers during the day. The villages are described as having distinct atmospheres, from Saint-Bon’s quieter historic setting to the higher, more developed resort areas. Its winter ski domain extends to more than 150 kilometres of marked slopes, with a modern lift network and direct access to Les 3 Vallées, giving skiers entry to one of the largest linked ski areas in the world. The resort positions itself as suitable for a wide range of abilities, with beginner areas, ski schools and a system that allows lift passes to be bought or topped up online, via the mobile app, at ticket machines or ticket offices. Beyond downhill skiing, Courchevel promotes a broad mountain stay with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ski touring, tobogganing, dog sledding and Nordic walking. When weather turns, visitors can use indoor facilities such as the Forum’s ice rink and bowling alley, while Aquamotion offers aquatic and leisure space. The resort also highlights a sledging run between Courchevel 1850 and Courchevel Village, plus practical support from tourist information offices across the valley. Food and accommodation are central to the resort’s identity. The official site notes a large choice of accommodation, supported by Courchevel Reservations as the central booking office, and it emphasises the resort’s gourmet culture and many starred restaurants. Courchevel presents itself as a polished mountain base where a detailed service offer, varied village settings and extensive winter sports infrastructure combine to shape a high-comfort alpine experience.
