Daereungwon and Cheonmachong
Hwangnam-dong, South Korea

Daereungwon’s rounded burial mounds give central Gyeongju one of its most distinctive landscapes. Paths wind between the tombs, while Cheonmachong provides an opportunity to understand what lay beneath the grass. Treat the park and the tomb interior as complementary experiences: one shows the scale of the burial grounds, the other helps explain their construction and contents. Follow the museum visit with a walk here, or reverse the order to put the excavated objects in context.
