DanDan brings American-Chinese cooking with a Midwestern sensibility to Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. Chefs Dan Jacobs and Dan Van Rite opened the restaurant in 2016, building a menu intended for sharing. Red-cushioned booths, string lights and a neon sign give the Erie Street dining room its recognisable character. Sichuan pork dumplings, schmaltz fried rice, orange chicken and General Tso’s cauliflower illustrate the range, balancing familiar takeaway favourites with the chefs’ own interpretations. Noodle dishes and vegetable options allow a table to build a varied meal rather than follow a set sequence. The restaurant also offers takeaway, private gatherings and off-site catering.
