Dempsey's Burger Pub on East Douglas Avenue in Wichita builds its menu around burgers with distinctly different toppings. Black Angus choices range from a straightforward cheddar-and-pickle house burger to the Up-N-Down, with two thin patties, grilled onions and house Thousand Island sauce. Another combines bacon and cheddar with apple-whisky barbecue sauce. The Bourbon Apple Brie burger adds candied apples, brie, bacon and garlic aioli. Alternatives include salmon, herb-marinated chicken, a pesto-topped portobello mushroom and a plant-based patty. Fries can be cooked or finished with duck fat, truffle oil and Parmesan, chilli oil, or cinnamon sugar for the sweet potato version.
