Dish Osteria
Pennsylvania

Dish Osteria and Bar occupies a historic two-room restaurant and bar on Pittsburgh's South Side. Chef Michele Savoia's Sicilian background informs Italian cooking with a Mediterranean emphasis, while the building's earlier lives include a saloon established in 1885 and the long-running McCann's Irish pub. The menu gives vegetables and seafood prominent roles: orange and fennel salad, grilled Portuguese sardines with onions, pine nuts and raisins, and octopus with potatoes and olives. Pasta choices include homemade gnocchi with slow-cooked lamb and rigatoni with smoked scamorza, prosciutto, peas and pistachios. Wine, cocktails and amari accompany meals, with an adjacent bar providing another setting for dinner.
