Dudley’s on Short occupies the 1889 Northern Bank Building in downtown Lexington, beside the Cheapside district and close to the farmers’ market. Debbie Long opened the original Dudley’s in 1981 before moving the restaurant into its renovated, two-storey home on Short Street in March 2010. The cooking follows creative American cuisine, shaped by Southern traditions and Long’s earlier experience in Colorado restaurants. Local and seasonal ingredients guide changing dinner and brunch menus. Wine, bourbon, seasonal cocktails and after-dinner drinks form a substantial companion to the food, while private dining continues the restaurant’s longstanding role in Lexington celebrations.
