El Charro Cafe

Founded by Monica Flin in 1922, El Charro Café is a family-run Tucson restaurant rooted in Sonoran and Tucson-style Mexican cooking. Its original downtown home stands on Court Avenue, with additional locations extending the same culinary tradition across the city. Carne seca is central to its identity, alongside enchiladas, tamales and miniature chimichangas. The menu carries local ingredients into dishes such as carne seca chile relleno and corn masa cakes with red chile sauce, green olives, onion and cheese. That combination of family history and regional food gives El Charro a particular place in Tucson’s dining landscape, whether the meal centres on its dried beef or a broader selection of Mexican dishes.
