Hwangnidan-gil brings a more contemporary rhythm to Gyeongju, with restaurants, cafés and shops occupying traditional-style buildings and older streets. It works best as time left open between the city’s major sights: turn into the smaller lanes, browse a few independent shops and stop when a café appeals. The area can be busy, so avoid packing it into a rushed transfer. Individual businesses keep different hours, and quieter side streets reward a little wandering.
