Garibaldi Hill viewpoint
Central-southern Montserrat

Garibaldi Hill is one of the best places to read Montserrat as a whole. The outlook can take in the volcano, Plymouth, Old Towne, Salem and stretches of coast, making it especially valuable early in a trip when you are trying to understand how the settled north and controlled south relate to each other. It is a simple experience, but a useful one. This is not a major built attraction, and it benefits from pairing with a more interpretive stop such as the observatory or a guide-led excursion. Even so, Montserrat often reveals itself through these orientation points, where landscape and history suddenly align. Garibaldi Hill is distinct from Jack Boy Hill in both perspective and feel, and it earns its place honestly as one of the island’s better documented scenic stops.
