Jetwing Lighthouse is worth a visit for its architecture even if you are staying elsewhere. Geoffrey Bawa’s design works with the coastal setting, while the sculptural staircase by Laki Senanayake gives the entrance a memorable focus. The building is still a working hotel, so arrange access rather than expecting to explore freely. Ask ahead about a guided visit, then allow time to look at the relationship between interior spaces, terraces and the ocean. It makes a useful counterpoint to the Fort’s older architecture.
