Mount Yotei’s freestanding volcanic cone dominates the Niseko landscape. In summer, its trails climb from woodland towards alpine plants, exposed ground and the summit crater, with wide views when the weather clears. The Makkari round trip is a substantial day, around nine hours in the national tourism board’s example. This is a rewarding choice for fit, prepared walkers who want a mountain objective.
