Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex

Ba Đình District, Hanoi, Vietnam; Ba Đình Square and 2 Hùng Vương / 17 Ngọc Hà approach area, Ba Đình District, Hanoi

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex is one of Hanoi’s most important modern historical precincts, centred on the mausoleum at the western edge of Ba Đình Square. Vietnam Tourism identifies it as a core capital sight and places it within the wider ceremonial zone that also includes the Presidential Palace grounds, Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house, the Ho Chi Minh Museum and One Pillar Pagoda. That concentration of state architecture and memorial space gives this visit a different character from Hanoi’s imperial and religious landmarks: it is less about wandering and more about observing how national memory is staged in the capital. For visitors, the mausoleum itself is tightly managed. Current official tourism guidance says entry is free, but the chamber opens only on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, with seasonal morning hours and routine closure on Mondays and Fridays. The same source also notes an annual autumn closure period for preservation work, with dates announced separately. Dress rules are enforced, photography is not allowed inside, and visitors move through in silence. As a result, this ranks fifth: undeniably significant, but more procedural and time-sensitive than Hanoi attractions that allow a broader, more flexible visit through the day.
