House of William & Merry

The House of William & Merry occupies an 1890s farmhouse in Hockessin, with high ceilings and large windows giving the dining rooms a domestic scale. Seasonal, regionally sourced ingredients guide its New American cooking, keeping the menu responsive to what is available rather than centred on a permanent roster of dishes. An open kitchen brings some of the preparation into view. Indoor bar seating and a porch provide alternatives to the main dining room, while the farmhouse remains a home as well as a restaurant. That combination of working household and dining destination gives the name a literal meaning and makes the building an important part of the experience.
