Îlet de Tintamarre
Off the east coast of Saint-Martin, France

Tintamarre is the more weather-dependent, more remote-feeling counterpart to Pinel. Reaching it usually involves a more exposed boat outing, and that sense of distance is central to the appeal. Rather than functioning as a simple beach add-on, Tintamarre feels closer to a marine excursion, with the crossing and the setting both contributing to the experience. It ranks below Pinel because it is less straightforward and more conditional, not because it is less interesting. For visitors comfortable with boat-based plans and some variability, it represents the French side’s wilder offshore environment very well. Keeping it in the list matters because it shows a different face of Saint-Martin: less serviced, less village-linked and more closely tied to the island’s protected coastal landscape.
