Kaya Mawa

Kaya Mawa spreads across a sandy bay on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi. Its individually designed houses and rooms fit among the shoreline's rocks, with whitewashed or exposed-stone interiors opening towards the lake. Selected accommodation adds private decks, plunge pools and separate dining spaces. Snorkelling, kayaking, sailing and paddleboarding make the water central to a stay. Massage treatments offer another option, while visits to the Katundu workshop introduce local artisans and their work with recycled materials. The lodge runs on renewable energy and supports community projects, including education and reforestation. Meals can include dinner beneath the stars by the beach.
