Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort

Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort occupies 81 acres beside Kahuwai Bay on Hawai‘i Island. Its 150 stand-alone hale take inspiration from traditional Polynesian architecture, with thatched roofs and accommodation distributed through a landscape of lava, coastal planting and former fishing-village sites. The resort’s design incorporates work by Hawaiian artists. The Asaya spa and Pacific Rim dining sit alongside experiences on land and water. A cultural centre introduces the history of the area, including preserved petroglyphs and fishponds. Sustainability extends into the infrastructure: a large solar microgrid supplies power, with biodiesel generation as backup. Local cultural advisers helped shape the resort’s approach to this coastal site.
