Lake Lalolalo

Wallis, Wallis and Futuna, French overseas collectivity; southern Wallis

Lake Lalolalo is Wallis’s most dramatic inland landscape: a near-circular volcanic crater lake ringed by steep cliffs and sacred rainforest. The official tourism pages describe it as one of the Pacific region’s largest crater lakes and note a dedicated lookout from which visitors can take in the full bowl-shaped form of the lake. The setting is unusually atmospheric, with dense greenery, sheer rock walls and deep green water giving the site a very different feel from the coast.
