Le Marocain
Morocco

Le Marocain occupies a richly decorated riad deep in La Mamounia’s gardens, where carved wood, zellige tiles and cushioned alcoves set the scene for an evening of Moroccan cooking. Chef Rachid Agouray draws on traditional recipes while giving familiar forms a more contemporary expression. The meal opens with harira, dates and sweet pastries, before moving towards dishes such as lobster pastilla with spinach or langoustine tagine. Citrus with mint granita offers a lighter finish, while gazelle-horn pastries and orange-blossom sweets stay closer to tradition. Musicians playing violin and lute add to the atmosphere. With private lounges and a central patio, the restaurant makes its architectural setting as memorable as the food.
