Little Water Cay (Iguana Island)
Off Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands

Little Water Cay, often called Iguana Island, is one of the most appealing short nature excursions from Providenciales. The cay protects an important population of Turks and Caicos rock iguanas, and visits are shaped around simple boardwalk access and careful wildlife viewing rather than resort-style activity. That modest scale is part of the charm: the experience feels fragile, local and ecologically specific. It remains rightly placed in the lower half of the top ten because it is best as a half-day add-on rather than a destination-defining centrepiece. Even so, it brings wildlife and conservation value to the ranking and shows a softer, quieter side of Turks and Caicos close to busy Provo. Access is usually by boat or kayak and site rules matter, but for travellers who want something beyond beaches without undertaking a major expedition, it remains one of the best low-effort nature excursions in the islands.
