Mare is Turtle Inn’s flagship restaurant in Placencia, where fresh Caribbean seafood meets traditional Italian cooking. Fish arrives from nearby reefs, and vegetables are gathered from the resort’s organic garden to shape a changing daily menu. The kitchen has served ceviche, gazpacho and fish baked in a sea-salt crust, alongside pizzas made to order in a wood-burning oven. Dutch-Indonesian rijsttafel dinners add another culinary tradition to selected evenings. Tables sit beneath a high vaulted thatch roof with views out to sea. The open setting keeps the beach close to the meal, while the menu moves between local fish, garden produce and the Coppola family’s Italian influences.
