Mary's Motel remains a family business in Bairiki, Tarawa, run by the children and grandchildren of its namesake. Established in the 1990s, it grew from four rooms and a small restaurant to a property with 15 units and space for small conferences. It stands across the road from the ocean, beside the causeway linking Bairiki and Betio. Rooms have air conditioning, fridges and private bathrooms, with small outdoor huts providing shared places to read or socialise. Mary's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, alongside the Bloody Mary Bar. Car and boat rental, transfers and laundry can be arranged. Local shops, government offices and sporting grounds are close by, giving the motel a practical position within South Tarawa.
