Oak & Reel brings contemporary Italian cooking to East Grand Boulevard in Detroit. Chef and owner Jared Gadbaw builds the menu around seafood, handmade pasta and seasonal dishes, with an oak-burning hearth shaping the cooking. Local ingredients meet fish and shellfish sourced from waters around the world. The kitchen aims for bright flavours, using the hearth to add a touch of smoke and flame without losing the central character of the ingredients. A curated wine and cocktail list accompanies the food in a casual dining room. Family-owned by Jared and Abby Gadbaw, the restaurant combines the precision of its seafood-focused kitchen with a setting intended for neighbours, friends and family to gather around the table.
