Orango Parque Hotel
Guinea-Bissau

Orango Parque Hotel sits on Orango Grande in Guinea-Bissau's Bijagós archipelago, within Orango National Park. Eight African-style bungalows contain 14 double rooms with private bathrooms; six bungalows stand beside the sea and two sit among vegetation. Meals use fresh local ingredients, and guided excursions introduce the islands' landscapes and Bijagó culture. The hotel is part of a conservation and community project. Through the nonprofit Guinea-Bissau Orango Association, profits are reinvested in local development, including schools, health facilities and drinking-water wells. Wildlife excursions explore habitats associated with saltwater-adapted hippos, turtles and migratory birds, connecting a stay with the environment that the project works to protect.
