Osaka Castle Park

Chuo Ward, Osaka, Japan; Osaka Castle, Chuo-ku, Osaka

Osaka Castle Park is more than the setting for the castle itself: it is a large, layered green space with seasonal flowers, walking routes and additional historic points of interest. Official tourism pages note the presence of Osaka Castle Museum, Nishinomaru Garden and plum groves with hundreds of cherry trees and over a thousand plum trees. That makes the park a substantial outdoor experience in its own right, especially in spring and for visitors who prefer a slower pace than the main keep visit alone. It ranks ninth because it is excellent as a broad strolling and seasonal destination, but much of its appeal is tied to the castle precinct it surrounds. Still, as a city-centre green space with historic scenery, it earns a place in a top ten Osaka list. The park is also one of the easiest ways to combine history, nature and photography in a single walk.
