Owamni
Minnesota

Owamni has evolved into Indígena by Owamni, now based inside Minneapolis's Guthrie Theater on South Second Street. Operated by the nonprofit NATIFS, the restaurant celebrates Indigenous culinary traditions across the Americas. The menu prioritises ingredients such as maize, beans, squash, wild game, fish and native plants, with beef, pork, chicken, dairy, wheat flour and cane sugar excluded. Larger cuts of bison, elk and venison join sharing plates, while an oyster bar expands the seafood offering. The drinks programme features BIPOC-produced beer, wine and spirits alongside cocktails and mocktails. A chef's table accommodates tasting menus and guest-chef events. Relationships with Indigenous farmers, foragers and food producers connect the dining room with NATIFS' broader work in food sovereignty.
