Pointe des Châteaux

Saint-François, Grande-Terre, Guadeloupe, France

Pointe des Châteaux

At the far eastern end of Grande-Terre, Pointe des Châteaux is one of those landscapes that justifies a drive for scenery alone. Wind, surf and limestone exposure create a peninsula that feels harder edged and more Atlantic than the calmer south-coast beach zones nearby. The short walk is simple, but the sense of arrival is strong, especially in the morning light. It earns its place because it gives Guadeloupe a dramatic coastal signature that is entirely different from rainforest Basse-Terre. Visitors who do not want a full hiking day can still get a memorable outing here, and photographers, first-time visitors and anyone based around Saint-François will find it one of the easiest top-tier experiences to fit into a short stay.
