Rector’s Palace and Cultural History Museum
Old Town, Dubrovnik, Croatia

The Rector’s Palace turns the former republic’s institutions into a tangible interior experience. Its portico and atrium frame a building where Gothic and Renaissance forms meet later Baroque alterations. Inside, the Cultural History Museum interprets official chambers, a courtroom, jail and the rector’s apartment alongside decorative arts and civic objects. Visit for the relationship between the architecture and the government it once housed; a little attention to the room labels makes the sequence more rewarding.
