Culebra

Reserva Natural Canal de Luis Peña

Reserva Natural Canal de Luis Peña is a more exact and defensible way to represent Culebra’s protected marine-and-coastal appeal than a broad refuge umbrella entry. The reserve is associated with coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangroves, and it is valued for low-key nature visits that lean toward snorkelling, boating and appreciating the island’s protected waters rather than checking off a single man-made landmark. It closes the list because it is less universally known than Flamenco Beach or Puerto Rico’s headline forts and rainforest. Still, it is a genuine named site with clear local importance, and it helps the ranking finish with a protected Culebra experience that is specific, current and distinct.
