Richard Wagner Museum at Tribschen
Lucerne, Switzerland

Wagner lived and worked at Tribschen from 1866 to 1872, and the country house now presents his life through letters, scores, photographs and other material. The Érard grand piano is a particular highlight. The lakeside setting gives the visit a different rhythm from the museums near the station, with gardens and a seasonal café encouraging a longer pause. It is especially rewarding for visitors interested in the relationship between a composer’s work and the place where it took shape.
