Rye in Leawood is the Mission Farms restaurant founded by husband and wife Colby and Megan Garrelts. Its cooking draws on Midwestern family meals and Sunday suppers, with seasonal ingredients and much of the food made from scratch. Fried chicken and house pies are central to that approach. The menu gives those familiar dishes particular detail: fried chicken comes with mashed potatoes and ham gravy, while shrimp and grits use Anson Mills grits, cheddar and smoked pork. Whipped goat's cheese is served with grilled farmhouse bread, country ham and honey. The restaurant also runs a steak night with a choice of main course, a side and a slice of pie.
