Sacromonte Landscape Hotel
Uruguay

Sacromonte brings contemporary shelter to the vineyards of Uruguay's Sierra de Carapé. Its cabins use mirrored façades to reflect the grasslands, vines and sky, creating a close visual relationship with the surrounding landscape. Designed by MAPA, the shelters place living and sleeping spaces towards the glazed front. Private terraces and plunge pools allow guests to spend much of their stay looking out across the estate. Wine gives the retreat another dimension. Tastings introduce Sacromonte's bottles, while the hilltop restaurant provides views across the sierras from an elevation of around 320 metres. The setting encourages an unhurried visit built around the landscape: time at the cabin, a tasting and a meal can form a complete day. Sacromonte will particularly appeal to travellers who want architecture and wine to be part of their experience of the Uruguayan countryside.
