Saint Kate makes art an active part of a hotel stay in Milwaukee's Theatre District. Guest rooms include work by Wisconsin artists, a ukulele, a record player with vinyl and paper with coloured pencils, inviting guests to listen and make as well as look. The first two floors contain galleries, installations and rotating exhibitions. Spaces range from a traditional gallery to immersive displays in The Closet, with the flexible Arc Theater adding a performance venue. The Studio Kitchen & Cocktails provides the newer restaurant programme, while a fitness centre adds a practical hotel facility. The combination gives the hotel a cultural role beyond simply displaying pictures in public rooms.
