Salter's at Sheraton Astana combines a steakhouse with a collection of nearly 250 paintings by contemporary Kazakh artists. The meat selection includes local, American and Belgian steaks, with dry ageing and wax fermentation among the kitchen's techniques. Seafood extends the menu to oysters, salmon and sturgeon. The presentation is deliberately inventive, with candle butter, crystal bread and cocktails using white tomato juice among the examples. The Great Steppe's Melodies cocktail collection takes inspiration from traditional Kazakh musical instruments, while local musicians perform in the restaurant. Food, art and music each contribute a specific part of the evening.
