Savoy
Finland

Savoy looks over Helsinki's Esplanade Park from an eighth-floor dining room first opened in 1937. Aino and Alvar Aalto designed the original interior, using timber, textiles and planting to create a comfortable, human-scaled space. Ilse Crawford and Studioilse later restored and refreshed it with support from Finnish design and heritage organisations. Chef Patron Helena Puolakka combines Finnish ingredients with French technique. Game, fish, wild mushrooms and berries recur through the seasons, alongside Savoy classics such as vorschmack, pike perch and Baltic herring. The terrace garden supplies herbs, leaves and flowers, while rooftop bees provide honey. Private dining rooms occupy the seventh floor.
