See Fantoft Stave Church

Fantoft Stave Church stands among trees outside central Bergen, its steep roofs and dark timber creating a striking silhouette. The original medieval church was moved here from Fortun in the nineteenth century, then destroyed by fire in 1992. What visitors see today is the careful reconstruction completed in 1997. The setting remains worth visiting for the architecture and atmosphere, with seasonal interior access adding another dimension to an otherwise short walk around the exterior.
