Semonkong Lodge
Lesotho

Semonkong Lodge stands beside the Maletsunyane River in Lesotho's Maluti Mountains. Its stone-and-thatch buildings sit among basalt outcrops and mountain paths, with accommodation options that include camping. Maletsunyane Falls can be reached on foot, horseback, mountain bike or a four-wheel-drive route. The lodge organises pony trekking, hiking, fishing and a 204-metre abseil alongside the waterfall. Local residents own the Basotho ponies and donkeys used for its activities, and local horse guides lead the excursions. The Duck and Donkey Tavern serves home-cooked meals influenced by Basotho heritage and South African cooking, as well as drinks including Maluti beer.
